You've got mail

I heard my phone vibrating and at first I thought it was Brian because he's really the only one that calls or texts me.  But it wasn't Brian, it was Yonseili.

"Are you ready?" she said, and I replied, "Ready for what?"
She thought my host mom told me she was going to the Supermaxi so that I could go with her.  Problem is that my host mom didn't tell me because I hadn't woken up (and she obviously didn't want to wake me up)... plus my door was locked - I was taking 'precautions' after yesterday's events.  Anywho, I would have needed way more than 5 minutes to just get ready, or simply brush my teeth.  I stayed in bed until 10ish, took a shower, and had cereal and apple for breakfast.  The cereal? Lucky Charms and Trix.

We had lunch at around 1.  Before then my host mom and brother went with me to the post office to pick up a package my parents sent me.  I got ripped off.  They charged me $95 dollars for the supposed heavier-than-8lbs-package.  It was either that or they ship it back.  FML.  I had to go back after lunch because I was obviously not expecting to pay nearly that much, and needed to get some cash from the ATM.

My lunch

My mail
As far as how Ecuador is doing...
News said there were four deaths- 2 civilians and 2 of the military.  I did feel uneasy going out, but everyone is out and about as if nothing happened.  I have seen 3 cop trucks and I know that I don't trust them; I trust them less than when I got here.

Yonseili has just asked me, "What is the ghetto-est thing you've ever done?"  I need to think about this.

...

The rest of the day I just stayed on the computer, had good dinner, and learned for the second time that Ecuadorians are really flaky when it comes to plans.  But, I also know that everything happens for a reason.

I met "Martica"'s husband, Cesar.  Martica is a friend of my host parents and is from Bogota, Colombia, as is her husband.

We didn't do anything today again.  Tomorrow will be different, though.  I hope.

Highlight of the day:  I received my package!  The best thing inside?  My brother's Zune.  Although I prefer my iPod Touch, I would therefore rather lose the Zune than that.  I can now listen to my music!!! Thank you bro!

  1. estrella,
it sounds like you crashed girl. and, yeah $95 for that box...you got ripped off.
don't feel bad about crashing...it was just your body catching up with the clock. but, now you have the 'zune' to catch the sounds while you are there.
up here, everything is homecoming this and that. aggies football team still hasn't learned the basics. volleyball team is doing well.
i'm having trouble getting anthony teen advisory council up and going. ghs and gms won't 'step up', and local nonprofits don't seem money in it, so they're not interested (now).
    hugs
    mike
