Liga de Quito 0 - Emelec 1

Yonseili said it right, today was definitely a "smooth" day.  I am so happy this was the case since yesterday wasn't such a good day in my life.

My host parents had invited us to go to a soccer game.  The teams playing were Liga de Quito and Emelec of the coast.  Although our team (Liga) didn't win, we had a lot of fun.  But our game didn't start with the game.  Yonseili's host parents invited my host family and I over to their home for breakfast for an Ecuadorian meal.  It was good if I may say so myself.  As soon as I was finished eating I hurried back to my house so that I could finish getting ready.  I woke up at 7:50ish to shower, then found out that breakfast was at 8:30, not 9am.  That's why I had to finish getting ready after breakfast.  Then, we took off to the "casa blanca" (the soccer stadium) on the bus.  It's called the white house because the team's color is white.

Anywho, the list of people who went is as follows: My host parents and brother, their Colombian friends, my host dad's nephew, Yonseili, Brian, Vincent Gosuin (from Belgium), and me.  My host dad was able to get our tickets for us before we arrived, and the entrance fee was $6 as opposed to what we thought would be $12.  We got seats in a section where the chants or "canticos" were nonstop LITERALLY.  My host dad, as long as MANY other Liga fans, were so into it it was great.  Hmmm, what else can I say?  We got some neat jerseys and for not a bad price.  There was a lot of singing, a lot of rooting for the team, a lot of booing for the other team, and perfect weather.

When the team came out, they had "confetti" shoot out of whatever is used to do that.  The confetti was recycled paper.  If you look to the ground and look at the paper, you will see writing on it.  I just thought it was interesting how anyone's recycled notes could end up on the stadium.  I would be psyched out if I saw my notes there.

There were a lot of ticket vendors outside the stadium as well.  Of course, they sell them at higher prices usually.  And memorabilia vendors? There were plenty of them.  After the game we learned that we could have gotten our jerseys for $2 less.  Whatev.

As the game was coming to an end, fans were not happy especially when Emelec was wasting precious time like crazy.  Although I had heard all the bad words before, it's mind blowing to hear them all in one sentence and ... for what? I guess it helps them relieve some stress.  To be honest, I did get a bit worried that things could get out of hand especially after what happened in Quito only a few days ago.

BIG HUGE LUNCH:
Holy smokes lunch was a lot.  I mean, I don't think I had ever eaten that much for one meal.  I could have stopped of course, but it was also too good to stop eating.  I didn't have to eat dinner because that's how much I ate.  The name of the restaurant is OH QUE BUENO.  It is Colombian food.  Some of the group had shots to help make the food go down.  I just had to breathe in and out slowly.

After lunch we went home.  Unfortunately my host mom had to leave early with my host brother because he had a toothache and it was so bad that they later had to take him to the doctor.  He is now okay =).

However, Vincent, Brian Yonseili and I went to Quicentro after about an hour so that Yonseili could get some gafas del sol.  Then we both bought Brian a new jacket.  We still feel bad we don't know what the heck we did with  his.  It's really like the earth just swallowed it.  At the mall Christian coincidentally ran into us.  He was limping because he was playing basketball before going to the mall.  We all got ice cream... I had vanilla in a cup.  We then walked Vincent to school, then Christian went to the bus stop, and the trio got a taxi back home.

TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY!!! I loved everything about it.

Uhm... anyone else see a problem with this?

The fans cheered on the entire game...

We've gotten asked often if we're sisters btw

I think that guy was on something

So weird to see military and cops together

Even after the game the cheering didn't stop.
I can only imagine what it would have been
if they'd won.

Oh Que Bueno

Before they regretted eating so much
Highlight of the day:  Going to the game... but really the entire day.  After Saturday wasn't so good, I think it made today just extra special to be able to just hang out with my friends and family.  It was simply chill.  Life is good.  Amen.
