Last night it took me about an hour to go to sleep. I think it was the malaria pill. I felt like throwing up, but never did, and at times I felt a bit dizzy. Thank God I somehow managed to go to sleep by 12:30...I mean, at least I slept six hours, right?
We continued the movie in Spanish class today (El Crimen del Padre Amaro), and I am just so disappointed in the characters that I don't even want to see it anymore. It was hard to keep my eyes open during Marketing Research... having class from 11-1pm is not easy.
After school, Yonseili and I ate at Ajo Macho-the Mexican food place where Brian and I had eaten a few days before. I got the Burrito Macho... and yes, it was as good if not better than the Burrito Vegetariano. It's very good Mexican food considering the owners are Ecuadorian. They had a TV on and the Simpsons were on in Spanish. It brought me back to the days when I went to Chihuahua to visit the family. It was a great feeling.
We were going to go to the teleferico but we decided we would wait until Friday to go with my host family. They have been wanting to go for the longest time at 5pm so that it's possible to get a view during the day and when the sun is out. It costs about $3 to get there with a taxi, and for adults the ride fee is $4.50, unless you're foreign of course. It will cost me and Yonseili $8. Thanks Ecuador.
Instead we went to two malls, C.C.I. (Centro Comercial Iñaquito) and El Jardin, with my host family. In C.C.I. they showed us around and specifically where the bowling alley was, the pool tables, and the ice skating rink. The mall was cool. When we went to El Jardin, it may have been about as big as the Cielo Vista Mall. Here we saw familiar restaurants, such as Sbarro, Cinnabon, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC... Note: There are 130 KFC's in Ecuador. Anyway, we just walked around and had donuts and hot beverages. Good stuff. We also went into several stores and items really are overpriced. But, I really did like a Colombian clothing store, Tennis. I will probably be going back there soon.
On our way back home we took the bus. Taking a taxi would have been too expensive (compared to 25 cents) because traffic was backed up like crazy. The bus drive was fun. It wasn't full at first, but by the time we got down we were smelling other people's body odor... yeah, I know. It really s*cks when armpits are right in front of your face. BTW, it was raining.
